Tłį Chǫ (Dogrib), Behchokǫ̀  -  Phoneme: j [dʒ]  -  IPA: Post-alveolar affricate, voiced

1 Word: dejį [dedʒĩ] "afraid"  -  Speaker: SP4

The j [dʒ] is voiced during the closure period in this example, but the fricative release is voiceless. Contrast this with the ch [tʃʰ] phoneme. 


2 Word: jìi [dʒi:] "berry"  -  Speaker: SP2

The d [dʒ] is in word initial position and is voiced during the closure and release portions of the sound.
