sh [ʃ]

2 examples

North Slavey, Deline  -  Phoneme: sh [ʃ]  -  IPA: Voiceless post-alveolar fricative.

1 Word: shégeye [ʃékeje]  -  Speaker: SP6

A voiceless post-alveolar fricative sh in word initial position.

2 Word: shú [ʃú] "mountain"  -  Speaker: SP5

Another example of a voiceless post-alveolar fricative sh in word initial position. This word was said in isolation, the initial consonant is quite long, but gives a good idea of how  strongly the fricatives are articulated in the Dene languages, compared to English for example.
