Dene Sųłiné, Cold Lake  -  Phoneme: ch [tʃʰ]  -  IPA: Aspirated post-alveolar affricate.

Word: chedh [tʃʰɛð] "duck"  -  Speaker: SP1

Description: An example of an affricate ch [tʃʰ] in initial position. The frication period of this sound is voiceless, the fricative ends with a small period of aspiration right before the onset of the vowel. Note the difference between this sound and the j sound phoneme in the length and manner of the release period.
