4 examples: o, ó, ǫ, ǫ́

1 North Slavey, Deline  -  Phoneme: o [o]  -  IPA: Mid back vowel.

Word: det’ǫnęcho [tɛt'õnɛ̃tʃʰo] "eagle"  -  Speaker: SP5

A word with two L tone mid back vowels o. The first one which follows the alveolar ejective t’ is nasalized.


2 North Slavey, Deline  - Phoneme: ó [ó]  -  IPA: Mid back vowel, falling tone

Word: denehóot’įnę [tɛnɛhó:t’ɪ̃nɛ̃] "family"  -  Speaker: SP5

This is an example of a long mid back vowel with a falling tone.


3 North Slavey, Deline  - Phoneme:  [õ]  -  IPA: Mid back nasalized vowel, low tone

Word: sǫde [sõtɛ] "elder brother"  -  Speaker: SP5


4 North Slavey, Deline  - Phoneme: ǫ́ [ṍ]  -  IPA: Mid back nasalized vowel, high tone

Word: kanį́zǫ́ [kxɑnĩzṍ] "always"  -  Speaker: SP6

Note the H tone on the final syllable falls and it is lower than the H tone on the 2nd syllable.
