Biography
Lucia Casiraghi holds an MA in Linguistics from the University of Pavia, Italy, and a PhD in Italian Studies with a minor in Information Science from Indiana University Bloomington. She is affiliated with the Center for Computer-Mediated Communication at IU. Her doctoral research explored the translanguaging practices of Italian youth on social media, with a focus on the interplay between global English and Italian local languages. In the 2024–2025 academic year, she taught Italian and Spanish at Harvard University, where she earned the Bok Certificate in Teaching Language and Culture. Her publications include studies on Italian media and pop culture and climate change communication. Her current work focuses on community-engaged learning and the pedagogical integration of digital tools and contemporary narratives in the language classroom.
