Where is home/Where did you grow up?

I am from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (Go Oilers!) and grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Since then, I’ve lived in Indianapolis, Indiana; Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Ann Arbor, Michigan!

Why did you choose chemistry as a career?

I have always loved making things with my hands and really enjoyed my undergrad lab classes. Once in grad school, I became fascinated with the natural world of small molecules and had to learn how to make them!

What do you like to do when not in the department?

I am an avid outdoorswoman. I love camping / hiking / backpacking with my dog, Rio, and we have been to more than half of the US National Parks. I have encountered wild grizzly bears, moose, and mountain lions while out on trails!

Fun fact or quote:

“You’re on a rocket to the moon, don’t get off now”

Ask me about...

Biology-enabled organic synthesis, immigrating to the US, baking sweet treats, and movies.
