Eleanor “Ellie” is giving a presentation of her research onboard an oceanographic research vessel.  Ellie graduated with a BS in 2014, went on to do a PhD at UCSB, and is now a Postdoc.

Graduate students are encouraged to present their research in formal talks both within the department and at regional and national meetings. The department also has an outside speakers program that brings in speakers, particularly from other well-known institutions across the United States and internationally.

Such interactions with the geologic, environmental, and planetary communities allow the students and faculty to be involved in the latest developments in research. For more information about current graduate student research groups, please see our research overview page.
