Missy Pfohl Smith

Missy Pfohl Smith Missy Pfohl Smith, MFA (Sarah Lawrence College), BS (The College at Brockport), is Artistic Director of BIODANCE and Director of the Program of Dance and Movement at University of Rochester. She is certified in the Evans Method of teaching Laban/Bartenieff-based modern dance and has taught and performed internationally with BIODANCE, Randy James Dance Works, Paul Mosley, among others. Smith's areas of interest include contemporary modern dance, choreography, site-specific work, improvisation, performance studies and somatics. Smith has received a variety of grants for her choreography for BIODANCE, exploring social, political and environmental issues, and is currently producing a BIO/DANCE & Social Justice Series at various accessible community venues. BIODANCE also performs the work of Bill Evans, Heidi Latsky, Randy James, Ivy Baldwin, D. Chase Angier, and more. The UR Program of Movement and Dance and www.biodance.org
