The basic structure of the majors provides every student with a set of core competencies that are presented in a series of three courses in the domain of public health plus a course in statistics and a course in either public health or medical ethics.
Students need to have completed two of the five Public Health General Core courses (PHLT 101, PHLT 102, PHLT 103, introductory STAT course, and either PHIL 228 or PHIL 225) before they can declare a public health major. Students must also have a average major GPA of at least a 2.0 to be able to declare a public health major.
