Core Requirements

The basic structure of the majors provides every student with a set of core competencies that are presented in a series of three courses in the domain of public health plus a course in statistics and a course in either public health or medical ethics.

Students must complete two core requirements before they can declare a public health major:

  1. Five public health general core courses:

    2. PHLT 102
    3. PHLT 103
    4. Introductory STAT course
    5. Either PHIL 228 or PHIL 225
  2. The major-specific core requirements

Students must also have a average major GPA of at least a 2.0 to be able to declare a public health major.
