Graduate Program

Overview

The graduate program in the University of Rochester's Department of History is a small and select one that offers both MA and PhD degrees. The program uniquely combines the personal attention of a tutorial system with the resources of a major research institution. While in residence, students have access to distinguished faculty, a world-class library, and the opportunity to interact with other leading departments.

Please consult the MA handbook or the PhD handbook for the most up-to-date requirements of the graduate program, including comprehensive exams, language requirements, teaching assistantships, and advisor selection. For rules and regulations concerning graduate-level study at the University of Rochester, see the Graduate Bulletin.
