Ken Rus Schmoll has directed the world premieres of numerous plays including Anne Washburn’s Antlia Pneumatica at Playwrights Horizons, Max Posner’s Judy for Page 73, Kate E. Ryan’s Card and Gift for Clubbed Thumb, Jenny Schwartz and Todd Almond’s Iowa at Playwrights Horizons (Drama League Award nomination), John Banville’s Love in the Wars at Bard SummerScape, Jordan Harrison’s The Grown-Up at the Humana Festival, Ethan Lipton’s Luther for Clubbed Thumb; Lucas Hnath’s Death Tax at the Humana Festival, Erin Courtney’s A Map of Virtue for 13P (Obie Award), Charles Wuorinen’s cantata It Happens Like This at Tanglewood, Will Eno’s Middletown at the Vineyard Theatre, Ann Marie Healy’s What Once We Felt at Lincoln Center’s LCT3, Ariana Reines’s Telephone for the Foundry Theatre (Obie Award), and Anne Washburn’s The Internationalist for 13P.

Other highlights include the New York premiere of Ayad Akhtar’s The Invisible Hand at New York Theatre Workshop (Lucille Lortel Award nomination, Joe A. Callaway Award finalist); the New York premiere of George Brant’s Grounded for Page 73; the American premiere of Wolfgang Rihm’s opera Proserpina for Spoleto Festival USA; and FUREE in Pins & Needles, a version of Harold Rome’s 1937 musical Pins & Needles, co-produced by the Foundry Theatre and Families United for Racial and Economic Equality.

Mr. Schmoll most recently remounted his production of Max Posner’s Sister on the Ground at NYU’s Playwrights Horizons Theater School; is currently developing Anne Washburn’s 12-hour play The Octavia, mostly recently at the University of Washington School of Drama; and will direct the world premiere of David Greenspan’s adaptation of The Bridge of San Luis Rey by Thornton Wilder at Two River Theater next year.

He is a usual suspect at New York Theatre Workshop; a three-time Sundance Theatre Institute alum; an affiliated artist with Clubbed Thumb; co-mentor of the Clubbed Thumb Directing Fellowship; and former co-chair of the Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab.
