Tips on Making a Self-Tape Video Audition
- Read the Audition Tips part of this website.
- Choose a neutral background.
- Make sure you can be seen from the torso up (or full body if that's better for the piece). Avoid being right on top of the camera.
- Memorizing the monologue is always preferable. Your hands are then free to be engaged rather than holding a sheet of paper.
- Look straight at the camera or right over the camera. Do not act in profile.
- Project! We need to hear you clearly.
- Make sure you have decent lighting.
- Avoid busy patterns on clothing.
