Richard Fadok Accepts Tenure-Track Position at RIT
Humanities Center postdoctoral associate to join Rochester Institute of Technology’s Department of Anthropology and Sociology, continuing his interdisciplinary scholarship in the Rochester community.

Dr. Fadok is a design anthropologist and expert in animal studies. Prior to joining the University of Rochester, he earned his Ph.D. in Science, Technology, and Society from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and held a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Weitzman School of Design’s Humanities Institute at the University of Pennsylvania.
During his two years at Rochester, Dr. Fadok made significant contributions to both scholarship and campus life. He consistently earned outstanding teaching evaluations, published a number of high-impact articles, and made substantial progress on his first book. He also spearheaded an innovative interdisciplinary initiative exploring bird-building interactions, an environmental planning and artistic collaboration involving Professor Mizin Shin from Studio Art.
Through his work, Dr. Fadok fostered meaningful connections across departments including Studio Art, Art History, Anthropology, Biology, History, and Sustainability Studies. His presence has exemplified the diverse, creative, and deeply engaged scholarship we envisioned when establishing the Humanities Center Postdoctoral Program.
We are proud to have supported the early stages of Dr. Fadok’s academic career and are thrilled to see him take this next step. That he will remain in the Rochester area opens exciting possibilities for continued collaboration and collegiality in the years ahead. His last day at the University of Rochester will be August 12.
Please join us in congratulating Richard on this well-deserved opportunity!
