Bio
Federica Parodi is the Arnold and Anne Moore Lisio Postdoctoral Fellow in the Humanities Center at the University of Rochester. She holds a Ph.D. in Italian Studies from Yale University (2026), with Graduate Certificates in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Environmental Humanities. Her research spans modern and contemporary Italian literature, cultural history, performance and sound studies, and gender and sexuality studies.
Her current book project, Radical Stage: Reimagining Theatre and Counterculture in the 1970s, examines how grassroots working-class and countercultural movements in 1960s and 1970s Italy used performance, experimental poetics, and radical textualities to address material conditions and imagine new ways of living. Moving through factories, occupied universities, working-class neighborhoods, and public squares, the book shows how non-linear textuality, from collective street drama to graffiti, served as a tool for both political struggle and subjective transformation.
Her work on modern radical textualities has appeared or is forthcoming in il verri, Italian Modern Art, and Forum Italicum. She co-edited and introduced Sistema periodico: Il secolo interminabile delle riviste (Pendragon, 2018) and translated Gianluca Rizzo's Poetry on Stage(Marsilio, 2025), as well as excerpts of Jennifer Scappettone's Poetry After Barbarism (Columbia University Press, 2025).She served on the organizing committee of The Reappearing Pheasant, a gathering of Italian and American poets at NYU's Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò.
