Staff Awards
The School of Arts & Sciences is gifted with an exceptional community of staff members whose stellar work supports our students and academic and research enterprises. Each year, the School of Arts & Sciences will recognize individuals whose diligent efforts demonstrate Meliora values and enhance the student experience.
School of Arts & Sciences Student Success Staff Award
The Student Success Award will be given to one individual in each division of the School of Arts & Sciences (natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities) each semester. The winners will consistently demonstrate a commitment to student success through innovative practices, creative problem solving, outstanding service, and collaboration. Award winners are the people who help students overcome obstacles and manage challenges, making a significant difference in students’ lives.
Eligibility and Nomination
Candidates are nominated by undergraduate or graduate students, with nominations opening on March 4, 2026 and closing on April 10, 2026.
Nominees must be:
- Current staff members in the School of Arts & Sciences
- In good standing
Prize
Staff who are honored with this award will receive:
- Up to $2,000 in professional development funds
- Clothing purchase of their choice from the URochester Barnes & Noble Bookstore
- Lunch with the Dean
- A printed award certificate
Awards Selection Process
Award recipients will be selected by the selection committee, which is made up of School of Arts & Sciences staff and students.
School of Arts & Sciences Outstanding Staff Award
Staff members are the heart of the School of Arts & Sciences community. Without the exceptional work of staff members in academic departments across the school, our academic and research enterprises would not be able to run.
The Outstanding Staff Award will be given to one individual in each division of the School of Arts & Sciences (natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities) each semester. The winners demonstrate a commitment to Meliora Values in all that they do.
