Biography

Michael A Wizorek (he/him) joins the University of Rochester as a Senior Lecturer in Theater, and Production Manager for the University of Rochester International Theatre Program (URITP), integrating his collaborative and creative expertise with a program marked by its ingenuity. His courses focus on lighting design, from practical execution to necessarily creative design techniques, as well as on the intersection of production departments. He excels in detailed 3D drafting and accurate paperwork deliverables. In his artistic endeavors, he focuses on comprehensive design and intentional saturation of aesthetic. He has worked as a lighting designer, sound designer, and engineer for audio, lighting, and video departments in a variety of venues, including the Ogunquit Playhouse, Bay Street Theater, the URITP, Channel 3 Chattanooga, and in the Rochester community.

As a manager, Michael relies on his analytical skills and database management experience to eliminate guess-work. By noting procedures and remaining constantly adaptable, Michael identifies routines and repeated barriers to determine how best to prepare for the 'next time around', while completing the current task effectively (and with a little style). After Stage Managing in college for the URITP, he worked as an Actors Equity Association Production Stage Manager and has stage managed new readings and productions in New York City and Sag Harbor, NY. He worked as the Associate Production Manager at Bay Street Theater before being recruited to return to the URITP as interim Production Manager in the summer of 2024. Having earned a BS in Audio Engineering and a BA in English: Theatre from the University of Rochester, Michael is ecstatic to accept a permanent appointment to the Faculty of the University of Rochester and rejoin the thriving theater community on campus.

Michael is endlessly grateful for the constant support of his friends, mentors, and family. Stay curious.
