Chamber Singers

Overview

The University of Rochester Chamber Singers are a select 16-20 member vocal ensemble based out of the Department of Music. Made up primarily of undergraduate students in the College of Arts, Sciences and Engineering, the Chamber Singers explore a cappella and chamber music from the 14th to the 21st centuries. Unrestricted by stylistic barriers, the group performs everything from Renaissance motets to vocal jazz, with a special focus on performance of contemporary repertoire.

The Chamber Singers have toured to New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. Much in demand in the Rochester community, they were chosen to perform at the New York State School Music Association’s 2004 Winter Conference.

For the 2019/2020 academic year, auditions for the Chamber Singers will be held during the first week of the Fall semester in Dewey Hall, Room 1-337.  Check back for specific times and dates. You must secure your audition time, in advance, by signing up online.

The group is directed by the multi-talented Julie Covach.
