Do you like the idea of being a research scientist, making new discoveries, expanding human knowledge, and transforming society? Do you love computers and are unafraid of math? If you answered yes to both, you are a great candidate for becoming a researcher in data science!

The Carlson Student Research Space is pleased to welcome Dr. Henry Kautz, the Robin & Tim Wentworth Director of the Goergen Institute of Data Science at the University of Rochester, to its first lunch series discussion on October 2, 2015 at 12 p.m. on the first floor of Carlson Library.

Kautz will discuss the many research areas within data science, the differences between being a computer programmer and a research scientist, how to prepare for such careers, and general career advice.

Kautz has done research in computer science and data science in both industry and academia, and is a former president of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence.

RSVPs are not required, but will guarantee a free lunch. Lunch is available beginning at 11:45 a.m. Register by September 28 here.
