"If you like Ms., you'll love Pvt.": Women and the Making of the All-Volunteer Military. The luncheon will feature a discussion focusing on the role of women in the military and how women are perceived by the media and within the ranks. A lively panel conversation will follow the luncheon focusing on gender in the military. In addition to Beth Bailey, PhD, the keynote of the Stanton/Anthony Luncheon, panelists include: Aaron Belkin, PhD, Melissa Dichter, PhD, MSW, and Stephanie Smart, JD. Our keynote speaker is a professor of history at Temple University, is a social/cultural historian of the 20th century United States. She has authored or co-authored several books, including From Front Porch to Back Seat: Courtship in Twentieth Century America, Sex in the Heartland, and the widely-assigned US history textbook, A People and a Nation; her most recent book is America’s Army: Making the All-Volunteer Force.
