Conferences

The Susan B. Anthony Institute for Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies (SBAI) hosts an annual undergraduate research conference as well as an annual international graduate research conference. We also co-host the biennial Seneca Falls Dialogues.

Annual Undergraduate Research Conference

Each year the SBAI undergraduate research conference features presentations by students nominated for their remarkable work in gender, sexuality, and/or women's studies.

Our 2018 keynote speaker is Margarita Simon Guillory, Assistant Professor of Religion at the department of Religion and Classics. Guillory will discuss her recently published book Spiritual and Social Transformation in African American Spiritual Churches: More Than Conjurers. Drawing on archival material and ethnographic fieldwork with African American Spiritual Churches in the USA, this book examines how their spiritual and social work can shed light on the interplay between corporate activism and individual spirituality.

Visiting Rochester

There are a variety of hotels in Rochester that we recommend to guests coming in from out of town. The Hilton Garden Inn at College Town offers a shuttle that runs regularly to the University of Rochester River Campus, and the StrathallanInn on Broadway, and Staybridge Suites are also somewhat near to the River Campus.

If you will be without a car during your stay, we suggest staying at the Inn on Broadway or Strathallan during your visit, since they are both in walkable neighborhoods filled with restaurants, shops, culture, art, and history.
