About the Competition and Exhibition
The Susan B. Anthony Institute (SBAI) for Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies hosted this art competition for 10 years. For information on past winners, please contact sbai@rochester.edu
In this competition, undergraduate students from across the university submitted artwork that was reviewed by a faculty jury and included in a group show at Sage Art Center. Three works were chosen annually for the Susan B. Anthony Institute Jurors' Choice Prize, which carried an award of $150. Four to eight additional works were chosen to accompany the winners in the exhibit at the Art and Music Library.
The winners and honorable mentions were announced at the opening reception in Sage Art Center. The opening, which took place annually on the first Friday of the spring semester, included a showcase of all submitted work and a gallery talk by a special guest juror. Artwork was then moved to the Art and Music Library and exhibited for the public until February.
