The University of Rochester department of Mathematics invites you to pursue a PhD with our well respected faculty. The department has active research groups in:
- Algebra and number theory
- Probability, Ergodic Theory, Mathematical Physics
The university is located on a tree covered campus in upstate New York. We maintain small class sizes with a high level of interaction between students and faculty. Our graduate students also gain valuable professional experience by working with our innovative undergraduate program, including WeBWorK.

The department is not currently accepting applications for the master’s degree. However, doctoral students can receive a master’s degree on the way to their PhD.
