This course explores the evolution of Poland’s economy and business landscape since 1990 , tracing the journey from post-communist "shock therapy" and the Balcerowicz Plan to its current status as a European economic powerhouse. Students will analyze how institutions and firms adapted to market liberalization , the strategic impact of EU accession , and the role of foreign direct investment in shaping global value chains. Through real-world case studies , the curriculum connects macro-level reforms with micro-level corporate strategies , while addressing contemporary challenges such as the green transition, demographic shifts, and regional security in the face of the war in Ukraine.
