Interests: Dr. Ziv’s work centers urban and national inequality, addiction, and incarceration and sits at the intersection of anthropology and public health. Her first book, The Treatment Game: The Street, The State, and the Global Politics of Recovery in Philadelphia, explores the twinned trajectories of Medicaid managed care and mass incarceration as they structure life in community-based drug treatent in Philadelphia. Both a committed, critical ethnographer, and applied public health practitioner, Dr. Ziv is committed to interdisciplinary research and applied initiatives.
