A reading course on the style and thought of Plato. By reading selections of Plato in Greek as well as select dialogues in English, students will gain fluency in reading Greek, a sense of the stylistic peculiarities of Plato's language, and an appreciation for many of his ideas about such topics as justice, beauty, and death. Translation exams, short essays, and final paper will be used to evaluate student performance.
