The Skalny Center for Polish and Central European Studies and the Political Science Democracy Center invite you to a book signing and reception celebrating the publication of Multinational Order: US Firms and International Organizations by Professor Randall W. Stone, Director of the Skalny Center, published by Cambridge University Press in 2026.
At a moment when the rules-based international order faces unprecedented stress — from great power rivalry, democratic backsliding, and the growing assertiveness of non-state actors — Professor Stone's new book offers a compelling and timely reframing of how that order actually works. Rather than looking to states or international institutions alone, he turns our attention to US multinational corporations: the largely invisible architects of global trade and finance whose interests, strategies, and political weight have quietly shaped the institutions we thought we understood. The result is a bold and beautifully argued rethinking of power, governance, and the future of multilateralism.
Please also note that Professor Stone will be discussing his new book on Connections with Evan Dawson on WXXI at 12:00 PM on Thursday, September 10th — tune in before joining us for the evening reception!
Light refreshments and wine will be served. A limited number of copies of the book will be available for purchase.
Co-sponsored by the Skalny Center for Polish and Central European Studies and the Political Science Democracy Center, University of Rochester.
