Health, Incarceration, and Reentry

WISH (Women’s Initiative Supporting Health) of the University of Rochester School of Medicine will work with stakeholders in the justice system, including sheriffs, formerly incarcerated women and men, and community agencies who serve the population to better understand opportunities and barriers to implement evidence-based programs to improve the health of those who are incarcerated and re-entering from incarceration.

Innovative strategies will include validated questionnaires of organizational readiness and focus groups among the National Sheriff’s Association conducted by a broad spectrum of stakeholders. WISH includes grant awardees Diane S. Morse, MD and Precious Bedell, MA, CHW, Inclusion Fellow, Warner School doctoral candidate.
