White Receives NSF Grant
Aaron Steven White receives NSF funding for Collaborative Research: The MegaAttitude Project: Investigating selection and polysemy at the scale of the lexicon for Decompositional Schema Induction and Prediction. PIs. Aaron White (Rochester) and Ben Van Durme (Hopkins).

Professor Grimm Nominated for Carnegie Fellowship
Professor Scott Grimm (Linguistics, Rochester) has been nominated by the University of Rochester for the Andrew Carnegie Fellows Program.

Professor Hoque Wins NSF CAREER Award
Professor Ehsan Hoque from the Department of Computer Science has won an NSF Early Career Development award for work on a virtual assistant for conducting meetings. Professor Hoque is also the Asaro Biggar Family Fellow in Data Science.

New Director, Center for Language Sciences
Ash Asudeh has taken over the directorship of CLS from Greg Carlson, who retired from the University of Rochester at the end of June, 2018. Asudeh joined the Department of Linguistics at the University of Rochester on July 1. He came to the UR from appointments at the Faculty of Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics at the University of Oxford and the Institute of Cognitive Science at Carleton University. His research interests include semantics, syntax, pragmatics, cognitive science, linguistic theories and grammatical architecture, and the intersection of language, logic and computation. He is currently working on a monograph, with Dr. Gianluca Giorgolo, called Enriched Meanings: Natural Language Semantics with Category Theory. It will be published by Oxford University Press.
