Undergraduate Certificate Program

Requirements

The Certificate in Literary Translation has the following requirements:

  • LTST 200: Studies in Translation
  • LTST 201: Studies in International Literature
  • One of the following language arts and the craft of writing courses:
    • ENGL 275: Advanced Creative Writing: Fiction
    • ENGL 276: Advanced Creative Writing: Poetry
    • ENGL 277: Screen Writing
    • ENGL 375: Seminar in Fiction Writing
    • ENGL 376: Seminar in Poetry
    • ENGL 377: Writing in Other Genres
  • One advanced literary studies course offered by English, MLC, or approved by advisor (200 level or above)
  • One elective, such as:
    • An approved publishing internship
    • A language arts and the craft of writing course
    • An advanced literary studies course
  • LTST 395 Independent Study Portfolio
    • This is the capstone project for the CLTST program. Under the direction of an advisor, students will complete a translation into English of a group of poems, a short story or novella, or an excerpt from a novel or play.
