On Nov. 5th, WIBS met for the first time to discuss what topics would be of interest to the group. Members suggested a range of topics, from mentoring to inclusive lab environments to issues affecting parents and especially mothers. In particular, the topics of mental health, professional development, and work-life balance stood out, so we came up with a plan to tackle these topics over the next few meetings. We then dedicated the last part of the meeting to open discussion, so that people could bring up personal experiences and good and bad things that had happened recently.
