Ryszard Bugajski

Ryszard Bugajski
Film and television director, script writer,
prose writer, translator. He graduated in
philosophy from Warsaw University and in
directing from Lódź Film School. He
started his career in the 1970's as
assistant to the maker of animated films
Daniel Szczechura and the renowned
feature film director Krzysztof Zanussi. His
film Interrogation (1982), after being
surpressed by the Polish communist
authorities for several years, was entered
into the 1990 Cannes Film Festival. Its official Polish premiere
did not take place until December 1989, after the political
transformation in Poland. Persecuted by the authorities, he
decided to emigrate to Canada in 1985, where he his full-length
feature Clearcut. He returned to Poland in 1995. His most
important feature films are: A Woman and a Woman (1971),
Classes (1980), Interrogation (1982), Clearcut (1991), Players
(1995), General Nil (2009), The Closed Circuit (2013).

Maria Mamona

Maria Mamona
One of the most popoular Polish theatre
and film actresses. After graduation from
the Academy of Theatre in Warsaw she
joined the Contemporary Theater (Teatr
Współczesny) in Warsaw, where she played
in productions by Maciej Englert,
Agnieszka Glińska , Wojciech Urbański,
Wojciech Adamczyk, Jerzy Kreczmar, and
others. She played in films directed by,
among others, Andrzej Wajda, Sylwester
Chęciński, Janusz Majewski, Jacek Bromski, Bartosz Konopka, and
Ryszard Bugajski.

Kordian Piwowarski

Kordian Piwowarski
Screenwriter, director, editor, composer,
visual artist. He graduated from the Directing
department of the Polish National
Film School in Łódź. And studied philosophy
at the Universidad Salamanca in
Spain. He was the assistant director to
Andrzej Wajda on the Oscar-nominated
film Katyń and directed a number of
shorts adverts, promotional documentaries,
and theatre visualizations. In
2012, he was the only Polish director to
be selected by the European Film Academy for the Sunday in the
Country extended programme in India, dedicated to young talented
filmmakers from Europe and India. Recently, he started collaborating
with Polish National Theatre on an adaptation of Shakespeare's
Hamlet for the Polish National Ballet which will premiere
in October 2013.

Anna Piwowarska

Anna Piwowarska
Writer, translator, television presenter.
She studied English literature at the University
of Cambridge and did a directing
traineeship at the Polish National Film
School in Łódź. She wrote and presented
several television series for the BBC and
Five, and regular cultural radio programmes
for the English section of Polish
Radio. She also wrote two Polish radio
plays which were premiered on Polish Radio. Her screenplay Postcard
from London received the Polish Film Institute Award as part
of the 2006 edition of the International Hartley-Merrill Award. She
has translated screenplays, plays and poetry. She has translated
dialogues and Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński’s poetry for the film
Baczyński.
