Dear Chm252/442 Students,

Due to an unfortunately unresolvable scheduling conflict with a medical appointment tomorrow, I would like to cancel tomorrow's class from (9:40-10:55). I sincerely apologize for this short notice, which is entierly due to my insufficiency. (But the country also needs more medical personnel!)

To make up for the lost Tuesday, 4/4/23, class time asap, a lecture will be given during the class time on the following Tuesday, 4/11/23, instead of the second Midterm Exam, which was planned originally for that time. The latter exam should still be given during next week, but at a time different from the regular class meeting slot. One attractive possibility would be a 1.5-hr period during the workshop time on Friday, 4/14/2023 from 3pm-5pm. Hopefully, this time would be manageable for the majority of the class. If that turns out not to be practicable, we can use a regular common exam period.

We will have the chance to disuss these options during coming Thursday class.

Again, please, accept my apologies. I will see you on Thursday this week!

Regards,

Math Preparation

Prerequisites for following the material discussed in class lectures and workshops requires familiarity with calculus and certain aspects of combinatorics/statistical analysis. These materials are covered in the book by McQuarrie & Simon Math Chapters MC B, C, D, and E. They should be reviewed during the first 3 weeks of the semester .
