{"id":5022,"date":"2020-10-14T19:05:54","date_gmt":"2020-10-14T19:05:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sas.rochester.edu\/ees\/urseismo\/?p=5022"},"modified":"2020-12-24T19:12:52","modified_gmt":"2020-12-24T19:12:52","slug":"urseismo-wins-nsfgeo-eager-teaching-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sas.rochester.edu\/ees\/urseismo\/2020\/10\/14\/urseismo-wins-nsfgeo-eager-teaching-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"URSeismo wins NSFGeo Eager Teaching Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">URSeismo wins grant (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/awardsearch\/showAward?AWD_ID=2042007&amp;HistoricalAwards=false\">@NSFEager<\/a>) to develop content for flipped lectures in an era of virtual learning and online research collaboration, there is a growing need for engaging, high-quality, digital resources (static and dynamic) that support synchronous\/asynchronous learning and enable productive long-distance collaboration.\u00a0 The project will design multimodal pilot modules on (1) Elastodynamics, (2) Seismology and Plate Tectonics, and (3) Near-surface seismological methods and applications to the developed environment. The work has the potential to transform the traditional teaching mechanisms for upper-level geophysics courses and be used as a means to attract underrepresented groups to geophysics who may not have otherwise considered Earth science as a research focus.
