Challenges for Family Life in Modern Poland

Dr. Magdalena Banaszkiewicz

Assistant Professor, Institute of Intercultural Studies, Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland and Skalny Visiting Professor

December 1st, 7:30pm

Sloan Auditorium, Goergen Hall, UR River Campus

The lecture will focus on the main challenges facing families in modern Poland, which are closely related to the socio-political system. The Polish economic model demands economic competitiveness, but fails to solve many social problems. The lecture will address fertility, care for the elderly, and balance between work and private life. The discussion will rely on a selection of reports and statistical data, but will also reflect the personal experience of a working mother.

Free and open to the public.
