Biography

Ms. Anderson received her BS in accounting (1984) from Greenville College, Greenville, IL. After graduation she joined the Department of Public Health in the State of Georgia(1984-1985). From there she moved into public accounting to further her accounting career. She was employed at Capin, Crouse LLP (1986-1990) a leader in cutting edge non-profit accounting policies and procedures. It was here that her skills in financial operations were developed. In 1989 she passed her CPA exam and became licensed certified public accountant in the state of Illinois.

After having audited several colleges she moved into the area of Higher Ed administration. She has held a variety of roles at Wheaton College, IL (1990-1993), Roberts Wesleyan College, NY (1993-2002) and now in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Rochester (2003 - ). Through the different positions she has gained expertise in many different areas within higher education including: grant administration, federal financial aid, NYS Tap, cash management, fixed asset accounting, capital project management, yearly budgeting, annuity and trust accounting, gift and donation recording, endowment accounting, general ledger set up, integrated administrative software implementations, general ledger accounting, cash receipts, accounts payable, payroll set up and maintenance, Perkins Loans administration, Direct Loans, setting up a new college corp. with the NYS Board of Regents, tracking and accounting for non-traditional academic programs, unrelated business income, IRS Form 990 tax returns, FASB 116 & 117 financial statement preparation. In 2001 she received the Spirit of Partnership Award from SCT Power Campus for her assistance as a liaison between the software vendor and higher education administrators.

Certifications include Certified Public Accountant in the state of Illinois, AICPA Certificate in Non-Profit Accounting, Certificate in Non-Profit Leadership from Roberts Wesleyan College and the University of Rochester CLASP Certification in grant administration.
