David Berry '67

David A. Berry (University of Rochester, History, 1967) spent his career as professor of history and director of th eHonors Program in the Division of the Humanities at Essex County College, Newark, New Jersey. He has been project manager for over 15 NEH Summer Institutes and director of the NEH funded project, "Advancing the Humanities in Community Colleges: An NEH Bridging Cultures Project."

In 1997 he was awarded the National Humanities Medal by President and Mrs.Clinton. He has advanced the role of the humanities in community colleges and has served as the national voice for the study of humanities in two-year colleges.
