Pieranna Cavalchini (http://www.pcah.us/people/pieranna_cavalchini), the Tom and Lisa Blumenthal Curator of Contemporary Art at Boston's Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, will lead a free-ranging conversation about her approach to curating artwork and the nature of the collaboration between artist and curator on Monday Sept 25th in the Lounge of the Humanities Center at 5 PM. This event is open to students in both Art & Art History and Medical Humanities.
The discussion will also encompass the Gardner museum’s unique Artist-in-Residence program, which Cavalchini pioneered (https://www.gardnermuseum.org/experience/contemporary-art/artists). Cavalchini will be joined by Charmaine Wheatley, a lifetime Artist-In-Residence with the Gardner (https://www.gardnermuseum.org/experience/contemporary-art/artists/wheatley-charmaine), who is presently doing a residency here at the UR School of Medicine & Dentistry - working with both our local mental health community and with our HIV/AIDS community (https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/education/graduate/ur-best-blog/december-2016-1/charmaine-wheatley-begins-artist-in-residency-prog.aspx).
