From Publishing to Peer Review: Academic Journal Management

November 07, 2016
04:00 PM - 06:00 PM
Humanities Center Conference Room D

The Visual & Cultural Studies Program is hosting a workshop as part of a series of events celebrating the 25th anniversary of the student-run, peer-reviewed journal InVisible Culture.

The workshop is geared toward anyone in the humanities interested in both publishing scholarly work and improving working relationships within an editorial journal. Questions that will be explored include: What makes for a good abstract?  How do staff working on a journal maintain productive relationships with peer reviewers, editorial board members, and authors?

Sharon Willis, founding editor of Camera Obscura, and Rachel Haidu, contributor to Art Journal, Artforum, October, Obieg (Warsaw) andTexte zur Kunst, will be sharing their insights from the perspectives of both authors and editors.

Drinks and light refreshments will be provided.

Please RSVP by email: or through our Facebook event:

If there are specific questions that you would like to pose to Profs. Sharon Willis and Rachel Haidu, please let us know.
