Leonard Tennenhouse, Professor of English at Duke University, is the author, most recently, of The Importance of Feeling English: American Literature and the English Diaspora, 1750-1850 (Princeton UP, 2007). His talk on Thursday will be drawn from his forthcoming book (co-authored with Nancy Armstrong) The Conversion Effect: Aspects of the Early American Novel.
