DataFest@RIT

April 13, 2018 - April 15, 2018
05:00 PM - 05:00 PM
Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT)

The 2018 Edition of DataFest@RIT with be held from Friday, April 13 to Sunday, April 15 (at noon)

This is a great opportunities for undergraduate students to enjoy the transforming power and of teamwork while exploring real life big data problems.

The American Statistical Association is big on this, and it is my view that students stand to gain a lot from this unique experience. If you know any undergraduate students in statistics, data science, computer science, engineering or any other quantitative field, please encourage them to form a team and take part in this.

Analyze. Work in teams to tackle what's probably the richest, most complex dataset you've seen so far provided by a real-life organization. Students at any stage of their data science educaton and from any major are welcome.

Network. Meet other data science professionals as well as students from other colleges and university. Make connections that can enrich your education and help launch your career.

Experience. Take away a story to tell at future job interviews about how you met the challenges posed at DataFest, how you functioned under pressure, and how you would approach similar problems in the work place.

We are still accepting teams until Tuesday, April 10th. The event is restricted to undergraduate students as contestants, but graduate students can help as mentors.  Last year undergraduates from Goergen Institute for Data Science won one of the 3 prizes.
