Structural changes in chromatin, as well as regulation of chromatin modifiers, might be common denominators for stochastic gene expression, the most commonly invoked characteristics of ageing. SIRT6 is a chromatin-bound factor that is involved in chromatin modifications, DNA repair, and RNA metabolism.

Given that chromatin organization and transcriptional response are linked to lifespan, my research interests involve understanding the role of SIRT6 in integrating epigenetic regulations and RNA metabolism to answer how perturbation in chromatin maintenance could affect ageing.
